Red Tape is casting ten girls who sing and dance for the children’s chorus in their February 2012 production of The Gingerbread House. Girls should appear 7-11 years of age. Contact Casting Director Paige Sawin at redtapetheatre@gmail.com to requested an audition spot.

You will be asked to report any weekend and evening conflicts for December- March at the time of the audition.

Regular Run 2/9-3/4, running Thursday- Sunday plus an additional performance on Monday 2/13
The chorus will be double cast, and performances will be evenly split between the A Cast and B Cast
Rehearsals are scheduled to take place Thursday evenings 7:00-8:30 and Saturday morning 10:00-12:00 at Red Tape
Audition Format
Music- Each girl is asked to prepare 30 seconds of a song that showcases her voice. Show-tunes, pop songs, or even “Happy Birthday” are acceptable. Girls may be asked to do some vocal warmups and learn part of a song with the group.
Dance- Be prepared to learn a short movement phrase and audition with a group. It is not necessary to prepare anything in advance. Please wear comfortable clothes and gym shoes or dance shoes.
Important Information Regarding The Gingerbread House
The Gingerbread House is a contemporary script that examines issues of parenthood, femininity and the natural world within a capitalist society. The script and production are intended for adults and contain content for a mature audience. This includes nudity, adult language and violent images. We have chosen to add the element of the children’s chorus to enhance the story telling and meaning of the script. Every effort will be made to minimize children’s exposure to this content.
